
Mr. Amit Pratap Shah (AP Shah), one of the much-known multi dynamic personalities in the Asian American community, has lived an exemplary life of service and leadership and has served as a role model to young Nepali immigrants in the USA. Mr. Shah is a young, energetic, and approachable public health professional, social entrepreneur, and community organizer.
Belongs from marginalized community, with a humble beginning in the remote village of eastern Nepal and life full of struggle, Mr. Shah managed to pursue higher academic and graduate from one of the best academic institutions of Nepal, Kathmandu University and have successful healthcare career and entrepreneurship with almost two decade of working experience at some of the world best institutions including Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, Columbia University Medical Center and NYU Langone Health (NYU Grossman School of Medicine). Mr. Shah currently serve as International Affairs Co-Chairs of Greater New York Chamber of Commerce.
Apart from his success in professional career, Mr. Shah is very passionate and actively involved in civic engagement activities and collaboratively working together with government agencies as well as business and civic leaders for the betterment of the society. With initiation of several social entrepreneurial venture in USA including Nepalese American Festival, Miss Nepal US, Mithila Art & Culture Center, AHG Community Health Center and ApanCare Foundation, Mr. Shah has played an equally prominent role in the community to magnificently portray the rich Nepali heritage and diverse culture in the USA and to bring fellow community members together to serve and promote his core values, identity, integration, and empowerment of Nepali Americans.
Mr. Shah’s outstanding community organizing leadership efforts and volunteer community services has been recognized and awarded by many government organizations and elected officials including Governor of New York State, Governor of Commonwealth of Virginia, Governor of Nebraska State, New York State Assembly and York City Council. Recently, Mr. Shah received U.S. President Volunteer Service Award 2022 and Gold Medal for his outstanding leadership and enduring commitment to serving the community and fellow Americans.
